My Shepherds Pie
My Shepherds Pie

Hello everybody, it is John, welcome to my recipe site. Today, we’re going to make a special dish, my shepherds pie. One of my favorites. For mine, I will make it a bit unique. This is gonna smell and look delicious.

A simple supper that's got all the elements of the ultimate comfort food. Easily scaled up if you've got more mouths to feed This potato-topped shepherd's pie gets extra flavor from the cheese and carrots that are added to the mashed potato crust. You can take a shortcut with the crust because the recipe calls for frozen mashed potatoes.

My Shepherds Pie is one of the most popular of current trending foods in the world. It’s easy, it is fast, it tastes delicious. It is appreciated by millions daily. They are fine and they look fantastic. My Shepherds Pie is something which I’ve loved my entire life.

To begin with this particular recipe, we have to first prepare a few ingredients. You can cook my shepherds pie using 8 ingredients and 9 steps. Here is how you cook it.

The ingredients needed to make My Shepherds Pie:
  1. Make ready cream of mushroom soup
  2. Prepare ground beef (or ground turkey)
  3. Take corn kernels, drained
  4. Prepare mashed potatoes (such as the Idaho pouch) or your own mashed potatoes
  5. Make ready onion, chopped
  6. Make ready garlic powder (or more or less, to taste)
  7. Take salt (to taste)
  8. Get pepper (to taste)

The use of lamb, the smoky, heather taste of Guinness® Draught (Irish, I admit), and the topping of sharp Cheddar and smoked paprika give this version its unique, smoky-sweet flavor. With ground sirloin, creamy mashed potatoes, and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese, your family will never know this comforting shepherd's pie is low in calories. The "traditional" Shepherds Pie was made with minced lamb because that was abundantly available, England didn't have lots of cows but there were plenty of sheep. My mom was British, I was born and lived in England, but when we moved to America even my mom made it with beef and still called it Shepherds pie.

Instructions to make My Shepherds Pie:
  1. brown / cook the ground beef and onion together, then drain the grease and return to pan
  2. add the garlic powder, salt, pepper, and can of mushroom soup to the ground beef and mix until heated
  3. make the mashed potatoes as directed on pouch or box (serving for 4-6)
  4. spoon the meat / soup mixture into the bottom of a casserole dish
  5. pour the drained can of corn onto the meat mixture
  6. spoon the mashed potatoes on top of the corn and meat
  7. cover with cheese (I didn't advise how much because it depends on how much and what type you like.)
  8. bake at 375°F for 20 minutes or until cheese is thoroughly melted and browned or bubbly but not burned
  9. enjoy!

Place in a medium saucepan and cover with cold water. Set over high heat, cover and bring to a boil. This Shepherds Pie is topped with Garlic Parmesan Whipped Potatoes (the potatoes are so good that I may need to feature them in a separate recipe on their own). Garlic and Parmesan Cheese are my not-so-secret ingredients. Before baking the Shepard's Pie I also topped it with fresh Parmesan so that the cheese would form a delicious crust on top.
