Make ready 1/2 cup Green lentils
Get 1/2 cup Urad dal
Prepare 1/4 cup Kidney beans rajma
Prepare 4-5 cup water for pressure cooking
Get 1 finely chopped onion

Make ready 1 tablespoon Ginger and garlic paste
Make ready 2 Tomato puree
Take 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds

Get 1 bay leaf
Make ready 3 pinches Nutmeg powder
Make ready Food cream as required
Prepare 3 tablespoon butter
Make ready Salt as per taste

Dal Makhani is a popular dish from state of Punjab. Rich and hearty, dal makhani is a combination of whole urad (an Indian lentil)and red kidney beans. It goes well with Naan, and Tandoori Roti. Dal makhani recipe with step by step photos -this is restaurant style dal makhani.
Steps to make Dal makhni:
Soak the whole urad dal green lentil and rajma beans overnight in enough water.
Later drain them well and put them in a pressure cooker, and add 4 cup of water and stir them well.
Cooked For 18 to 20 whistles on a high flame till all the dal is cooked well you can also check and cook again if it's not fully cooked for 5 whistles and mashed it properly.
Chopped 2 large tomatoes and make it a fine puree
In a pan heat 3tablespoon butter
And add the whole spices like tezpata, green elaichi, cloves, bay leaves, and zeera. Saute till the spices leaves aroma.
Then add finely chopped onion.
Stir the onion on a low flame till it become golden brown
Then add ginger garlic paste stir again and saute it. till the raw aroma of ginger garlic paste goes away
Add 3 green chillies chopped and stir for a minute
Now add tomato puree and stir again
Add half tablespoon red chilli powder and 3pinches of nutmeg powder
Stir nicely to all the mixture in a low medium flame. till the oil realeases from all the sides.
Now add all the cooked dal and rajma along with all the stock given.and also add 1 cup of water to make it consistent,add salt as per taste.
Keep on stirring often,so that the dal did not stuck to the bottom of the pan.
Once the dal becomes thick add salt and little amount of water
Stir very well and continues to shimmer on a low flame and keep for 20 to 25 min.
When the gravy become thick enough, then add 1/4 cup cream.
Mix the cream very well and switched off the flame.
Add 1/4 tsp kasuri methi crushed and stir it properly.cover and keep aside. yummy dal makhni is ready tp be served.garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
