When you prepare Mathura Peda remember to fry/roast Mawa as much possible. The more Mawa is fried/roasted the more its shelf life increases. Do add little amounts of milk/Ghee from time to time while frying Mawa, this makes frying/roasting for a long time easy.

The ingredients needed to make Mathura peda:
  1. Get Full fat milk
  2. Make ready Sugar powder
  3. Take Ghee
  4. Take milk
  5. Take Green cardamom powder
  6. Get Milk powder

Steps to make Mathura peda:
  1. Take a heavy base pan add 1 spoon ghee and 1 liter milk.
  2. Stir the milk, until it evaporate and gives a solid form. It took around 40- 45 min. Add cardamom powder in it.
  3. Stir continuously otherwise milk will burnt and remove milk from sides. Add 20 gms milk powder.
  4. When all liquid evaporate it change into semi solid. At this stage lower the flame add half spoon ghee and stir it till it looks light brown in colour.
  5. If needed add ghee. After this grind it in fine powder. Add sugar powder in that powder and mix it with hand.
  6. If mixture looks dry add 1 spoon of milk. And again mix give them shape as in picture or round shape. Coat them in sugar powder.
  7. Allow the peda to cool in refrigerator for 2- 3 hours. Serve them cold after every meal.

As this peda is orginated from Mathura ( Sri Krishna's Birth Place) , it is named after this place. Mathura Peda is most renowned for its divine and unique taste. These authentic fudge Purely made of Khoya - milk solids and Sugar and flavoured with Cardamom and Nutmeg. In Gujarati, these are known as Mathura Na Peda. A few years ago, I had visited Dharwad and did a story on the locally famous Pedha.
